Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve sent an update. Time has been flying by! Summer is almost over and it still feels like we haven’t even had summer yet. It feels like the snow was just breaking up last week. Bummer.
Well, as some of you know, I was pretty busy at work with the 4th of July. The chamber of commerce is responsible for the parade and festivities in Kenai that day, so it was a pretty long day. It was a lot of fun, but it was sure nice to come home and relax that evening.
Friday night Lilly gave us a big scare. Jeremy took her for a walk in the woods and Lilly loves to bounce around in the brush. So Jeremy was running the trail and Lilly was bouncing around in the brush off the trail keeping up with him and all of a sudden he heard the worst yelp out of her. He thought she was kicked by a moose or stung by bees. She came hobbling out of the brush and ran up to him wining for help. He had no idea what was wrong until he felt her chest and realized something stabbed her and punctured through her skin and muscle in her chest. They hiked out to the highway and hitch-hiked to the vet. Then I got the paniked call to call the vet to the office (they were closed for the day) and meet them with towels and water.
So, I jumped in the car and zipped down the road and by the time I got there the vet was inside with Lilly inspecting her. The first thing I saw was a 3 inch HOLE in her chest. Poor thing! He fortunately determined whatever it was that stabbed her, didn’t go farther than her rib cage. No internal damage…thank goodness!
Jeremy and I held her while the doc stitched her up from inside out and then we took her home. She spent the whole evening and through the night druged up and miserable, but the very next day she was ready to play. A little sore still today, but her lively spirits are back.
I’m just glad it had a happy ending, as I don’t know what I would do if something awful happened to her.
