Ringing in the 30's with Jeremy!

The Moment of Surprise

Jeremy’s New Bike

Friday night I threw a surprise birthday party for Jeremy’s 30th.  We had about 20-25 people over including family, friends and co-workers.  Jeremy’s brother Jake, and his girlfriend Kelsey, came down from Fairbanks.  They have never been to our new home in Kenai, so it was nice to have them.  Jeremy’s mom also joined us from Fairbanks, along with several friends and family members that live in the area.  It was so nice of everyone to come and celebrate with us.

A couple people from Jeremy’s work offered to take him out for a beer down the road as a decoy.  The plan was to come home around 7:15 p.m.  Jeremy walked in to his party around 8:45p.m. with rosey cheeks!  His first couple sentences were “I’m late!” and “I’ve had six beers already!”  It was so funny!

Jeremy’s mom provided me a bunch of old photos of Jeremy.  Photos of him as a baby in the kitchen sink taking a bath, all the way up to photos of his steam cleaning days in Valdez…yes, Jeremy used to steam clean carpets.  I blew some of these photos up and put them on display during the party.  It was great decoration and people really enjoyed seeing a different side of Jeremy.

We had beautiful weather all week (55 – 60 degrees and sunny), then it rained, snowed and got super windy on the big day.  The plan was to set up a canopy and outdoor seating for a backyard BBQ, but that changed when the thermometer said 30 degrees on Friday afternoon!  We woke up this morning to 6 inches of fresh snow!!!  APRIL 26th, can you believe that?

It was a great evening and I’m so happy we were able to surprise him.  He is such a difficult person to keep secrets from!  Oh, our good friend Keith from Anchorage (world renown bartender) writes in the Anchorage Daily News blog and wrote about Jeremy in yesterdays blog.  A “Bourble” is Jeremy’s favorite drink that Keith makes for him.  Check it out www.adn.com/spiritsblog
