It’s been way too long since I’ve posted anything on here, so I thought I would take a few minutes to update you on what’s been happening in the Baldridge house lately.
Following our trip to Hawaii, work has been non-stop busy for both Jeremy and I. Jeremy is working an average of 10 hour days and sometimes from home over the weekends. The chamber (my work) has hosted two major events in the last two months and our annual bowling event is happening April 12th. I’m already putting plans together for our 4th of July parade and festivities. Although it’s a lot of fun, it never slows down.
Enough about work and on to the fun stuff…Lilly has had her share of fun days lately. We decided to leave her kennel door open one day for a couple hours while we went out to dinner. She has never been home alone and out of her kennel. So, we puppy-proofed the downstairs (as much as we could) and put the gate up on the stairs and left her for 2-3 hours. We came home to a CLEAN HOUSE! Wow! So, the next day I was leaving for work and put her inside her kennel, closed the door, but left it unlocked. I set up a video camera to see what she did while I was gone and whether or not she’d figure out her kennel was unlocked. I came home at lunch time and the house was clean! The day before, I bought her a huge pack of toys from a local wholesale grocer. She seemed satisfied with her new toys and stayed away from our belongings. I watched the video briefly and for the first 20 minutes she is laying in the middle of the living room floor howling and making noises we had never heard her make! Poor thing was not happy we left her alone. At one point, she was sitting in front of the window resting her chin on the window seal just watching outside. We did this for three days and her howling stopped, she was much more relaxed (especially the day I put in her favorite movie “Winged Migration”) and the house remained untouched.
The weekend came and went and this past Monday I tried it again. Came home at lunch and there lay something shredded to pieces in the middle of the floor! Lilly was wagging her tail in excitement to see me, however her ears and facial expressions were telling me something different. She had fear and joy all in one face! It took me a minute to figure out what she had shredded…it was one of my SHOES!!!!! She hasn’t chewed a shoe for MONTHS! I was so mad at her! Long story short, this week has been a little rougher than last week, so she is back in the kennel for now.
We have also been out of town quite a bit lately. In February I flew home to surprise mom for her 50th birthday and that was fun. Dad did a wonderful job of planning a party for her and then surprising her with tickets for her and Aunt Jill to see Bette Middler in Las Vegas this week! She is probably laughing hysterical with Jill in a casino as we speak!
Jeremy flew up to Fairbanks in late February to celebrate his two brothers birthdays. Our three-year anniversary was last week and to celebrate, we went to Homer for the weekend. The Sportsfishing Association puts on this annual seafood feed the first weekend in March and after we went to it last year, we decided to make it a tradition. So, Saturday we filled our tummy’s with fresh crab, halibut and shrimp! We stayed in a condo right on the beach and woke in the morning to watch the “Eagle Lady” feed the eagles. Considering I don’t have a telephoto lense, I was able to get some good shots. Here are just a few from last weekend:
